No More Bush

As I have mentioned I am a regular shaver. I have also mentioned I haven't always been one. But in the past 12 years I have been removing hair from my hoo-ha I have learned many things. First and foremost--this is serious business and should always be done with the following things:

  • A good, non-disposable razor. Preferably one with 4 blades.

  • Shaving cream designed specifically for "sensitive areas". Most shaving cream marketed for men is not designed for this.

  • Sobriety and some courage.

I can't say I have loads of opinions on this matter as much as I do have just have more tips for you. I learned a thing or two in my research as well. For example, I didn't know that due to Aunt Flow being in town your vaginal area becomes super sensitive. This really seems like such a no-brainier because everything there is so sensitive during that time of the month; why not have your hair follicles be bitchy too?

The other thing I didn't know is that while sleeping your luscious lips swell with fluids which makes your skin puffy. Thus making it more difficult to get a really close shave. So whatever you do, don't roll out of bed and grab a razor?? Can't say this has ever been something I have done before but I generally do shave in the morning. The important thing is to be sure your awake and mobile for 15-20 minutes before you shave. Which ironically enough is the exact amount of time it takes me to wash my hair, my face and masturbate.

Do not use your razor to "trim" long hairs. This will only dull your razor faster and further increase your odds of getting massive razor burn. They make small scissors for things like this. Buy some at Walgreens and call it good.

Further bonus to waiting 15-20 minutes (really masturbating is the best reason, but..) is your skin really should be heated up. The heat from the hot water loosens and opens the hair follicles making them more likely to jump off your skin and onto your razor. That and dry skin will roll into the freshly shaved follicles, clogging them and causing you guessed it.....razor burn, bumps and ingrown hairs. Sadly this also resembles "herpes". Not hot and not super cool.

Many people will give you advice about positions. Truly if you have a full bath, its best to fill the bath tub with a half an inch of water or so and prop your leg up on the ledge. This will spread you open enough to be able to get a better view to see what you are doing.

It has also been said that a fresh brand new blade is the best way to go. I disagree. I shave daily and although I make decent money, not enough to use a new blade everyday. And honestly, the daily shaving thing has really cut back the appearance of razor burn, bumps and ingrown hairs.

I found a website that suggested starting at the back, moving to the sides and then doing the front. And here's the part I'm not certain of--then "you can shave against the way the hair grows". I gotta tell ya, I have done quite a few experiments trying to get the closest shave possible and EVERY time I have gone "against the grain" I have been so very sorry. Sure for the first day my pussy is smooth as my ass. Soft, beautiful and as always tasty. But the next day I itch, burn and it's 32 flavors of pissed the fuck off. My suggestion: NEVER shave against the way the hair grows. Like ever.

Don't push the razor into your skin. BUT do pull the skin taut and then run the razor across it--but not too many times. This is really the key and this is exactly why once you start shaving, you really should do it everyday or your going to continually get razor burn. The razor shouldn't run its sexy blade across your fresh supple skin more then 4, maybe 5 times and really less is better.
And most importantly: share the results. And I don't mean with me (although I love it). There is nothing sweeter then having a soft, warm yet firm tongue rake itself across your glistening pussy freshly shaven.

Men--any suggestions from your perspective on shaving for you?

Everyone--what are your thoughts? What do you love about shaving? What do you hate?

spending a year in the army, i had to shave every single day, sometimes even twice a day as i was in a really strict unit and you could get locked up for the slightest sign of having facial hair.

you really covered all the tips but i can add that you can use a warm towel to loosen the hair up first, another nice tip is to never ever use a cold blade...ah and dont go for that blade a day thing, thats only Gillette trying to make money out of you. shaving against the grain is terrible.

i think waxing is alot better though

I just cold-waxed this morning and it was the single most uncomfortable thing that's happened to me in a very long time. I'm taking to being a daily shaver for life. Thanks for the tips.

I like to be very liberal with aloe vera gel following shaving. I use it once or twice daily. It keeps things from getting irritated as the hair grows back the next day.

Exfoliate! I do every morning, before and after I shave. It takes away the dead skin, which cannot clog your pores, which means fewer ingrown hairs.

I use Body Shop scrub, but that may be a little harsh for some...

cns: thanks for the extra tips! didnt know about the cold blade. I will have to start making sure mine is warmed up first! :)

duckling: hmmm, i need to look into the cold waxing thing. i dont think the place i was looking at going to is cold wax, but i could be wrong.

roots and michelle: i have also heard that using deodorant post shave can help as well, but i havent had much luck with that. I do like the aloe idea though...good tips!

Let me ask, as a man, the inevitable question -- why shave? My wife, a luscious redhead, had a delicious bush of copper red hair. She trims it, especially in summer, but otherwise lets it grown. I have always enjoyed running my hand down her smooth belly, first reaching her bush, then her sweet spot (her middle name is Candace, hence we call it Candy). Do you men really like a full shave?

anon: I shave because i really like it much better. I love the way my skin becomes very smooth and silky. it does heighten oral sex as his tongue runs from my hole to the tip of my clit all the while passing by my lips. it feels cleaner to me. Its a personal preference and i dont have a boyfriend, so it really is just for me. im not the type of girl to do something like that regularly for a guy anyway.
