What Counts As Sex? --NEW POLL!!!

Every so often this question comes up in conversation and everyone has an opinion. More precisely the question is usually "Does oral sex count as sex?" Does it? What does?

I hear gossip often about what teenagers refer to as sex. I think the way most regard it is that it doesn't count as sex. Using this as a way to still hold to their virginity, or rather feel like they can call themselves virgins. I know anal sex is also regarded in this manner sometimes.

The argument being that any penetration counts as sex. I don't know if I buy into this theory so much. One could say that it only counts if there is vaginal and penile penetration. But what if your gay or lesbian? Then what counts? Is it different for each sexual preference?

If I'm saying "I had sex with so-and-so" that means his (hopefully) massive cock was buried inside my wet pussy. If I've given or received oral then I say so. Yet if I've had anal sex, and just anal sex I don't usually specify. Or rather I haven't in the past.

Bill Clinton argued that when Monica Lewinski was sucking him off in the Oval Office, she was having sex with him but he wasn't having sex with her. How is this possible? If I'm having sex with someone aren't they always having sex with me too? I think so. I can't recall a time ever when I was giving head and the guy was just laying there doing nothing to me. I'm usually getting my shoulders massaged, or my hair pulled or something. It's never just nothing. And if I'm positioned off to the side I usually have the pleasure of having fingers in my pussy.

Does fingering count as sex? Where is the line between 'making out' and having sex? Maybe it's an age thing. Perhaps as adults we don't make out anymore. Whoa that's a sad thought. With a post so full of so many questions I risk it and ask you, my sexy readers, yet one more question: What do you count as sex?

Jezebel,
(what a great name for a pin-up model)

There's a saying here in the south, which goes like this:

"Eat'n aint cheat'n, and suck'n aint fuck'n."

That said, I usually count oral sex as sex...after all, it does include the word "sex" in the name.

Fingering...Isn't that what we used to consider 3rd base, when we were teenagers? Hence, I consider that to be either part of a serious make out session, or foreplay...depending on whether or not sex follows.

Sage & Sweatshop: Interesting theory. I'm not certain I agree, but I am intrigued.

Maxx: Thank you for the name kudos, I'm very fond of it. I have heard this saying before, even here in the great NW. I dont think I count oral as sex. I just dont.

And 3rd base still happens for me, sometimes just that....

sex to me has always been "lower genitalia inside lower genitalia" in some way. (two lesbians and a strap on is yes, close enough.)

athena: i agree, 100% :)

I think of sex as anything that causes arousal - you know, that old feeling in your pants. That's regardless of who touches who where, or not. Yes, I guess that means if someone gives you a hug and you get aroused, it still counts as sex, but I see that situation as private and the non-consensual aspect of that harmless. I definitely think masturbation is sex.

anita: interesting approach. i disgree, but i like that it is different. masturbation for sure counts as sex, but a hug? idk about that.

How can you guys say oral doesn't count as sex? Let's play a scenario out.
Wife: You sure have been hanging out with Susie from work lately.
Husband: Ya, we've been going to the bar after work to have a few drinks and catch up on some things we couldn't finish during the day.
Wife: So you are not sleeping with her?
Husband: No. She blows me in the parking lot before I head home, but I'm not sleeping with her.

What is the wife's response?
a) Oh ok. What do you want for dinner tonight?
b) I'm going to cut your balls off.

What counts as sex and what counts as cheating are not the same thing.

My answer would be b)I'm going to cut your balls off.
